Understanding Your Funnel: The Leads Tracker
When you hear the word funnel most people think of easy breezy evergreen sales. Funnels are like the anti-launching. You create one simple funnel, you work on getting the leads, and poof the sales appear.
Here’s the thing though. Funnels don’t just exist in an evergreen, “casual easy sales way”. Funnels are everywhere and they are all over your launches.
A funnel simply represents the journey a potential customer takes from discovering your brand to making a purchase. For instance, in my business, the funnel might look like this: someone discovers my Instagram, clicks the link in my bio, visits my website, navigates to a sales page, books a sales call, and finally makes a purchase. And that’s just one funnel. I could have a client who never visits my IG and just finds me on google and goes to the website and books a call.
My leads can come from anywhere and go through a series of different funnels to buy from me.
The only way to truly understand what is happening in all these funnels is to have data to track your leads. Once we have the data then we think through what needs to happen at each funnel stage to hit your sales goals.
For example, if you aim for a $100,000 launch, we utilize our custom launch calculator that will specify how many people need to visit your website, how many need to stay and proceed to your sales page, how many should book a sales call, and how many need to close the sale.
You will get clear numbers to hit for each stage of the funnel. This is super important because most people struggle to hit their goals because they don’t know how to hit them. They have a sales goal and are like ok I need clients but how? You don’t know how to hit that sales goal because you don’t have a clear understanding of what needs to happen in your funnel. This is where we come in to play!
Planning for Success
Once you have the funnel numbers, you can craft a detailed plan. Knowing the exact numbers needed at each stage allows you to make strategic decisions. For instance, if you need 1,500 website visitors but only have a small Instagram following, you might decide to run ads, hire team members to create more content, or focus on lead generation through various channels. For example one of our clients aimed for a 6 figure launch.
Using our leads calculator, she identified the number of leads needed, doubled down on content creation, invested in ads, and actively pitched herself on LinkedIn. She hit 100% of her launch goal and that was a direct result of understanding and acting on the data.
The Bigger Picture: Beyond the Waitlist
Many entrepreneurs focus solely on the number of sign-ups for their waitlists or webinars. However, the top of your funnel starts much earlier. It can begin when someone visits your website or signs up for your email list. If you can address potential issues upstream, you can better control outcomes downstream.
For example, consider your health goals. If you’re trying to lose weight but only focus on cardio without addressing your diet or hormonal balance, you’ll struggle to see results. Similarly, in launching, you need to consider every stage of your funnel, from initial website visits to final purchases, rather than just the immediate launch event.
