The importance of having a Niche

Niching down was one of the hardest things I had to do. If you’ve read my bio you’ll know that I’ve spent my career working in online retail. At a young age, I had dreams of working in the fashion industry, and thus far have handcrafted my career into something I’m very proud of. ⠀
⠀
As a merchant, it’s my responsibility to understand the product, analyze the customer experience, and more importantly, know how to position a product to make a sale. My unique skill set is what makes my 1:1 coaching program so different but it was difficult for me to narrow it down to marketing. I was trying to be a merchandiser, a marketer, a consumer analyst, and an online business coach all at the same time. ⠀
⠀
I was all over the place. ⠀
⠀
It took me some time and a lot of trial and error but I’m grateful for my niche. I now have the opportunity to be 100% present for my clients and create an experience that I’m confident I can deliver on. ⠀
⠀
But it wasn’t easy getting here….⠀
When you’re passionate about a lot of things and quite frankly, really good at all of them, it can be hard to simplify to just one. Here are a few steps I took to finding the right niche for me:

Analyze what you want to offer

Think through exactly what product or service you want to provide. Often times we create businesses based on what we feel is missing so it’s important to consider your why. Some things to consider when picking a niche:

  1. What do I want to be known for?
  2. Why should someone buy this product from me?
  3. What am I passionate about to do full time?

Simplify the list

Once you have a general consensus of what you want then narrow it down to your top 1 to 2 choices. This is a big one that I think early entrepreneurs struggle with. Your eager to get out there and tackle all the things but it’s important to take your time and allow your business to evolve. Start with the top 2 that you know you can deliver on. Choose whatever makes you feel confident especially in the beginning stages when your most vulnerable!

Ok Ok so you did the above two things and now what!? Well now we talk, and we figure the rest out together. My specialty is helping you discover your zone of genius and run your business exactly how you want to.
