Truth is, I’m a die-hard creative. During my seven years working corporate at Gap and Banana Republic, I was the one who came up with bold ideas, outside-the-box strategies, and campaigns that made people stop and take notice.

Essentially, if I couldn’t show the numbers to back up my super cool launch campaign, they weren’t trying to hear it.
This. Was. Tough. I was by far the most innovative person on the team, but I couldn’t pass Go or collect $200 without the data. I fought this hard. I pushed back on my team. I felt like they were dismissing everything that made me me.
But then I realized… it wasn’t personal.
